YEA! Are you cheering because the commercials for “Back to School Sales” are blazing or are you cheering because you still have August to get in more fun, trips and outdoor activities? Or are you be Sizzling Out? Our perceptions of this “are the awareness that operates through our senses.” Psychology Today
The change of routine, time schedules, activities and longer days can be a blessing or a burden, depending on your circumstances. A single parent, a person with health issues, or a caring for elderly parents, means time and energy is required. Perhaps you are experiencing an expected or unexpected life change! How can you navigate this season?
As a Certified Professional Life Coach, I’m offereing four tips for managing these lifestyle and perception changes:
Ease up on your expectations: Keep things simple! Ask for help, which is not an indicator of weakness but of courage. People who care about you will want to support you. View yourself as human being, not a super human.
Find joy in the small things...the walk outside on a different trail... looking for nature categories: things that crawl, fly, or run. Make a photo journal of the outside discoveries by tapping into your senses. Share or post your photos.
Claim a Monthly Motto or statement of affirmation such as: “Things are hectic, but we’re making memories... I know things are changing, but this could be a new tradition...It’s not the end of summer, rather the start of fall.”
Try something different that is closer to home but has been put on the back burner. Look for an ethnic museum to visit or reach out to a childhood friend. Check out a local historical tour or attend community fair/flea market.
