Joy is an attitude, a mindset, a lens and a way of being! But with so many disasters, tragedies, illnesses, and losses, while happiness is often dependent on circumstances, Joy is not connected to events or situations. The Mayo Clinic posted this article on tips for finding joy: https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/tips-for-embracing-joy-in-daily-life.
The word JOY is especially evident during this Winter Holiday Advent and Christimas season. Joy was proclaimed by angels at the birth of Christ (“I bring you tidings of great joy”), People want and need to find joy, despite personal and world events. Joy may visible to others, like an ice cream cone of favorite flavors. Or it might be inward joy, that lifts your spirit, like music.
As a Certified Professional LIfe Coach, people wonder how joy applies in simple terms. Sometimes people try hard to find it but its usually right where you live, work and play. Here’s 3 strategies based on the words: Shake, Rattle and Roll.
1) Shake off whatever is preoccupiying your mind. Shake off the negative and seek out the positive. Shake off what’s beyond your control and make a difference with what’s in your control. Remember to “shake it off” physically, even when you sit!
2) Rattle your own thinking. Rattle your traditionsor your ways of doing by mixing in some new ideas, events or activities. Ratlle your perspective from all that’s wrong, to what is going well or right. Seasonal sounds, foods and music are key, too.
3) Roll with the changes that’s happening around and in you. Be willing to roll with your emotions and thoughts, as part of the process. so you can reset and begin to feel joyful.
You can change your mood by changing hour mindset!
